Carcassing & Structural Timber

Carcassing timber is used for a host of applications, often not requiring any structural element but simply a part of a structure or as a background material.

Not suitable for direct decoration or paint finish, this product is usually fixed into or forms a structure which is over clad on a covering substrate. Fielden Factors carry a wide range of sizes, in a variety of lengths, in stock at all times.

The term “eased edge” was introduced across the UK trade from 2004 onward. This refers to the timber being semi surfaced and finished to a uniform, relatively smooth dimension with 4 radiused corners to minimise the risk of splinters.

Sizes are generally 2mm below thickness and 5mm below width. E.g. a 47x100mm will be 45x95mm actual size. Generally stocks are minimum C16 grade however C24 is commonly available.
